In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
