The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Woe to every slanderer, defamer, 1 who amasses wealth and counts it, 2 Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever! 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces? 5 It is the fire kindled by Allah, 6 Which rises above the hearts. 7 Indeed it will be shut over them. 8 In extending columns. 9

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
