The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
