Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 a warning to humans, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 About the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
