He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
