The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
