The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they differ? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
