The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
