The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
