Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 But nay! I call to witness the accusing voice of man's own conscience! 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 and the moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 No indeed; not a refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that day, man will be informed of all what he sent ahead and left behind. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay! But you love the present life, 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Waiting for their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and calf is inter-twined with calf. 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
