20 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Pen (Al-Qalam) before The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 Half of it - or subtract from it a little 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 upon the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains become a slipping heap of sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
