The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
