The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; 1 (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 Yet perchance, if they do not believe in this tiding, you will consume yourself with grief and follow after them. 6 Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. 7 And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil (without any vegetation or trees, etc.). 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 When those youths took refuge in the cave, they prayed: "O our Sustainer! Bestow on us grace from Thyself, and endow us, whatever our [outward] condition, with consciousness of what is right!" 10 So We prevented them from hearing in the cave for a number of years. 11 and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. 12
