The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 When Shuaib said to all of them, “Do you not fear?” 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 So fear Him Who created you and the former generations. 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 In response they denied him – therefore the punishment of the day of the tent* seized them; that was indeed a punishment of a Great Day. (The clouds formed a tent and rained fire upon them). 189 Verily in that is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 190 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
