A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a company of the later peoples. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Tell them, (O Prophet): “The earlier ones and the later ones 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 You will indeed eat from the Zaqqum tree. 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 You are well aware of the first creation; then, do you learn no lesson from it? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 "We are ruined, 66 Rather, we have been deprived." 67 See ye the water which ye drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
