The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 arise and give warning! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 Pollution shun! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 Burning the skins! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
