The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and gently take it away; 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
