He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
