The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
