The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 or orders piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
