Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
