The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
