They question you about the spirit. Say: 'The spirit is from the command of my Lord. Except for a little knowledge you have been given nothing' 85 If We pleased We could take away what We have revealed to you. Then you will not find any one to plead for it with Us, 86 Except as a mercy from thy Lord verily His grace unto thee is ever great. 87 Say: Verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another. 88 We have indeed turned about for men in this Koran every manner of similitude; yet most men refuse all but unbelief. 89 And they say: We will not put faith in thee till thou cause a spring to gush forth from the earth for us; 90 "Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst abundantly; 91 "Or you cause the heaven to fall upon us in pieces, as you have pretended, or you bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face; 92 or, until you possess an ornate house of gold, or ascend into the heavens; and we will not believe in your ascension until you have brought down for us a book which we can read' Say: 'Exaltations to my Lord! Am I anything except a human Messenger' 93
