Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the dawn 1 And the Ten Nights, 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 And [by] the night when it passes, 4 Is there in that an oath for a mindful man? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, 11 And heaped therein mischief (on mischief). 12 Then their Lord unloosed upon them the lash of chastisement. 13 for, verily, thy Sustainer is ever on the watch! 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 And if He tests him and restricts his livelihood – thereupon he says, “My Lord has degraded me!” 16 (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces, 21 and your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: would that I had sent before for this life of mine! 24 So on that day, no one punishes like He does! 25 And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind. 26 But ah! thou soul at peace! 27 Return unto thy Lord, content in His good pleasure! 28 Join My worshipers and 29 "And enter you My Paradise!" 30
