In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
