The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
