And assuredly Harun had said unto them afore: O my people! ye are only being tempted thereby; and verily your Lord is the Compassionate; so follow me and obey my command. 90 [But] they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses comes back to us!" 91 (Musa) said: O Haroun! what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 “That you did not come after me? So did you disobey my order?” 93 He said: O son of my mother! seize me not by my beard nor by my head; surely I was afraid lest you should say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel and not waited for my word. 94 Musa said: what was thy object, O Samiri? 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 Moses said, "Go away! Throughout your life you will not be able to let anyone touch you. This will be your punishment in this life. The time for your final punishment is inevitable. You will never be able to avoid it. Look at your god which you have been worshipping. We will burn it in the fire and scatter its ashes into the sea." 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 Thus We recount unto thee some tidings of that which hath preceded; and surely We have vouchsafed unto thee from before Us an admonition. 99 Whosoever turns away from it, upon the Day of Resurrection He shall bear a fardel, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The day the trumpet blast is sounded We shall raise the sinners blind, 102 and they shall murmur to one another, "You stayed only ten days on the earth" -- 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
