The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
