And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 Nor a true friend; 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
