AND [thus it is:] We have not created heaven and earth and all that is between them without meaning and purpose, as is the surmise of those who are bent on denying the truth: but then, woe from the fire [of hell] unto all who are bent on denying the truth! 27 [For,] would We treat those who have attained to faith and do righteous deeds in the same manner as [We shall treat] those who spread corruption on earth? Would We treat the God-conscious in the same manner as the wicked? 28 It is a blessed Book which We have revealed for you so that you will reflect upon its verses and so the people of understanding will take heed. 29 We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence. 30 When well-bred horses, which were fleet of foot were paraded before him near the close of day, 31 he said: “Lo! I have come to love this wealth on account of the remembrance of my Lord.” And when the horses disappeared, 32 (Then he said): Bring them back to me, and fell to slashing (with his sword their) legs and necks. 33 We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God 34 He said: My Lord! Forgive me and bestow on me sovereignty such as shall not belong to any after me. Lo! Thou art the Bestower. 35 Then We subjected to him the wind: it ran gently by his command withersoever he directed. 36 And the shaitans, every builder and diver, 37 and others chained in fetters. 38 [Saying of Allah to Sulaiman (Solomon)]: "This is Our gift, so spend you or withhold, no account will be asked." 39 And verily for him is an approach with Us, and a happy end. 40
