The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
