The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
