Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West. There is no god but He. So take Him alone as your protector. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move! 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
