Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 What, does he think none has power over him, 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Did We not grant him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 (It is) to free a slave, 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 [with] fire closing in upon them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
