And the dwellers of Al Hijr also belied the Messengers. 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. 82 But they were seized by the mighty blast towards the morning; 83 And that which they were wont to count as gain availed them not. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Stretch not thine eyes to that We have given pairs of them to enjoy; and do not sorrow for them, and lower thy wing unto the believers, 88 and say, "I am, indeed, a plain warner," 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 [and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods! 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 for whatever they have done! 93 Proclaim then, what you are commanded and turn away from the unbelievers. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 who assert that there are, side by side with God, other divine powers as well: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 96 We do indeed know how your heart is distressed at what they say. 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain. 99
