The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
