The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 Lo! He reflected, and determined -- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
