a multitude of the ancients, 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 in the shadow of a smoking blaze, 43 neither cool nor good. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And so will our fathers?" 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 Fill your bellies with it, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital! 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have [indeed] decreed that death shall be [ever-present] among you: but there is nothing to prevent Us 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 Have you considered the soil you till? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
