He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And he feareth 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
