Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
