The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
