50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds sent forth with beneficence. 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 And [by] the winds that spread [clouds] 3 Then by those that clearly differentiate the right and wrong. 4 And those that bring down the Reminder 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 and when the mountains are scattered like dust, 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 one will be told, "To the Day of Distinction". 13 What do you know what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 We shall then send the latter after them. 17 Thus deal We ever with the guilty. 18 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 and place it in a secure place 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 (It will be said:) "Depart ye to that which ye used to reject as false! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As if they were Jimalatun Sufr (yellow camels or bundles of ropes)." 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
