The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
