The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
