A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all the former and the latter.” 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 And upon it, you will drink the hot boiling water. 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth? 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 From replacing you with others or raising you in a way you do not know. 61 And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises? 62 Have ye seen that which ye cultivate? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)" 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
