The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 it will be a hard day 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
