The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
