The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
