The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
