Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 So, as We recite it, follow its reading. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 and when leg is intertwined with leg, 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
